At the bustling Chick-fil-A in Roanoke Rapids, NC, the power of art and community engagement found a delightful expression through the seasonal window paintings created by Art By Riley Mills. Four times a year, with the changing seasons of fall, winter, spring, and summer, these windows transformed into a canvas that captured the hearts of both locals and visitors alike, enjoyed by more than an estimated 1 million passersbyers.
The designs, cleverly incorporating Chick-fil-A’s iconic cow alongside seasonal themes, became an instant hit, further amplified by their viral success on ABRM social media accounts. With over 40 million views, the process of bringing these windows to life and transitioning them between seasons captivated a global audience, showcasing the blend of creativity and branding at its best.
One of the most memorable projects came during the reopening phase post-COVID, when Chick-fil-A invited Art By Riley Mills to bring a local flair to the playground windows, which remained closed for safety. The designs celebrated Roanoke Rapids' spirit, featuring elements like the rockfish, cow print, the American flag, the historic Roanoke Rapids High School (RRHS), and Main Street, weaving the essence of the community with Chick-fil-A’s brand identity.
Seasonal highlights included a playful depiction of the cow caught in a pumpkin patch during fall, surfing summer waves, dangling from giant cow-patterned Christmas ornaments, and even donning Santa’s hat while alongside the Grinch in a whimsical nod to Christmas spirit. Each painting not only served as an eye-catching decoration but also as a beacon of joy and engagement, fostering a deep connection between Chick-fil-A and its patrons.
The seasonal windows were more than just art; they were a testament to Chick-fil-A's commitment to creating a welcoming, fun, and engaging environment for its customers. Special occasions like St. Patrick's Day saw a pot of chicken nuggets at the end of a rainbow, while March Madness was celebrated with the cow decked out in basketball gear, each creatively aligning with the season and the beloved Chick-fil-A brand.
Through these artistic endeavors, Chick-fil-A in Roanoke Rapids became known not just for its delicious food but as a landmark of community engagement, creativity, and festive spirit. The seasonal window paintings by Art By Riley Mills played a pivotal role in this transformation, making the Chick-fil-A experience unforgettable for everyone who visited.
As ABRM Elite Murals continues to evolve, focusing now on hand-painted murals, particularly in outdoor advertising, the legacy of these seasonal windows remains. They stand as a vibrant showcase of how art can be harnessed to enhance brand visibility, engage a wide audience, and bring joy to the community—a mission that continues to drive our creative endeavors forward.
